The extraordinary teacher Joseph Quinn

Today our second activity was a conference in English about the book "Frankenstein" by Mary Shelby which is considered either a science fiction novel or a Gothic novel or a romance novel. The conference was held by professor Joseph Quinn. He is an extraordinary person who made us be captivated about the subject.

Many people are skeptical about the fact if the book was really written by Mary Shelby or her husband, Percy Shelby, but it was proven that the book was really written by her.

Then the professor explained to us the whole plot of the story, which i found it so interesting and it made me want to read the book. The plot it's composed in three segments: the letters written by Walton, a friend of Victor Frankenstein, the narrative in Victor Frankenstein's perspective and also the creature's perspective.

You may be wondering why I said "the creature" and not Frankenstein. Well, Frankenstein is the name of the creator, Victor Frankenstein, while the creator doesn't have a name. Its a misconception created by the film industry, where the scenes in the movies are totally inaccurate compared to the book. The creation of the monster scene is very famous because of the movie, but this scene is really short in the book.

We also learned, that through the book we discover who the real monster is: Victor Frankenstein. He abandoned his creation, like a mother abandoning her child and that the monster just craves for love and touch.

Also Frankenstein was associated with Batman and The legend of Prometheus. The principle theme was punishment.
