First steps in Piacenza

Updated: Oct 21, 2023

In the morning we got dressed in our uniforms and headed downstairs for breakfast. Once we were full we headed towards the high school on foot. Mesmerized by the architecture and with the help of google maps we arrived at the Colombini High-school There we went to several classrooms where we interacted with the students. The last two classes stood out to me the most. In the second class I met some girls who liked the same music as me and were also eager to learn to speak Romanian as I was Italian, and found out that for us pronouncing Italian was far easier than it was for them to speak Romanian. In the third class however we found something unheard of at home: a multicultural class where only three students were Italian, the rest being Moroccan, Albanian, Macedonian, Egyptian, Nigerian and Filipino. Along with them, we each spoke about our home country and some of them even brought national dress and snacks of which my favorite was the Nigerian chips. When we left, we walked trough the center to a different building of the high-school where we ate at the cafeteria and had our first taste of Italian pasta. After a quick break at the hotel where we rested our legs, we decided to explore for a bit and took even more pictures of the houses we found eye-catching. Now tired, we found our way back to the hotel, eager to wake up tomorrow and see what awaits us.
